Hy friends ! all of you sure known Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Mozart, Thomas Alfa Edison and the others… Have you ever wondered is there any woman who is famous for her discovery ?? The answer is Marie Curie.

One of my favorite idol is Marie Curie . Her full name is Maria Sklodowska-Curie. She is a physicist and chemist. My reason why Marie Curie is one of my idol is she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win in two fields, and the only person to win in multiple sciences. Wikipedia says that she was also the first female professor at the Sorbonne University.

Marie Curie was born in Warsaw, in the Russian partition of Poland, on 7 November 1867, the fifth and youngest child of well-known teachers, Bronislawa and Wladyslaw Sklodowski. Maria's older siblings were Zofia , Jozef, Bronislawa, and Helena. At that time, her parents were bankrupt by the loss due to an investment. Because of that, Marie Curie couldn’t continue her college. Then she decided to be a private teacher at a rich family. Part of her income, she gave it to her sister to help her on her college’s fee. After her sister pass the college and got a doctor title, she continue her study in Sorbonne University nowadays called Universities of Paris and majored in physics and mathematics.

Marie Curie's first discovery in chemical element was in 1898 was named polonium and the discovery of radium in the next few months. Radium is a radioactive substance that is widely used in the medical field and medicine in general to eliminate cancer by irradiating the cancer cells with a radioactive substance. The last name of Marie Curie is got when she married Pierre Curie who was also a chemist. Marie Curie has two daughters, Irene and Eve, who was born in 1897 and 1904. Irene continued and develop the work of her mother, and received the Nobel prize in chemistry.

Marie Curie died on 4 July 1934 due to a disease called aplastic anemia, a disease associated with radiation. Why ? As long as you know, Marie often brings appliances experiments, such as tubes and small tubes loaded with chemicals and high radiated in her pocket. Arriving at her work room, she put all the equipment in her desk drawer for granted. That’s why Marie suffered aplastic anemia disease. Unfortunately, there were no doctors that time can treat the disease by Marie. Finally, she died at the age of 66 years. To remember her service to found pollonium and radium, it was established Curie Institute.
